Synopsis/Summary of Qualifications: Mr. Burns has more than twenty-five years of executive and hands on experience managing environmental and process engineering projects for government, municipalities and private industry clients. He has managed or conducted more than 500 projects which include process safety management; risk management, spill prevention control and counter-measure plans (nearly 100 successfully completed) crisis communications, industrial and municipal water and waste water treatment plants; safety audits; emergency response planning; waste minimization; environmental compliance; soil and groundwater remediation; environmental impact assessments. As the Senior Vice President of the Industrial Division of an international consulting company, Mr. Burns started a construction operation to pursue remedial and civil/environmental construction projects. During the ten years, Mr. Burns managed the construction operation the type of project expanded to include design/construct/operate wastewater treatment plants, process facilities, piping and combined sewer overflow. Mr. Burns has a B. S. in civil engineering and a MS in environmental engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in twenty-six states and the District of Columbia. His professional affiliations include the Environmental Committee of the First Coast Manufacturing Association; Environmental Committee of the Florida Manufacturing and Chemical Council; Program Committee of the National Association of Environmental Management; Central Florida Economic Development Commission, Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI). Prior to entering consulting engineering, Mr. Burns worked in the private sector for General Electric, Dupont, and the Austin Company. Mr. Burns continues to serve as a visiting professor, Syracuse University, College of Engineering and conducts seminars on Risk Management, Process Safety and Crisis Communication. |
